I am being prompted for a username and password, but I know I have
never created a username or password for this database.
There is always a username with an ACT! database. ACT!
remembers it when the database is created so you don't need to
retype it when the database is opened. You can find the
user name by selecting Tools>Manage Users. This list will
provide the User Name.

I am trying to use the SQL instance of Exporter and it keeps telling
me that it can't open the database. I have made a copy and
have used ACTDIAG to verify that it is not attached to the ACT
server.
Make certain that you database is not save in a folder that has
special permissions set -- this includes the My Documents folder and
your Desktop. The best place to save the copy of your database
is directly under the C: root. Make a folder named 'c:\my
export'
I need to export Activities, Secondary

Relationships but they're grayed out. How do I get them?
To export groups and activities, you need to use the Exporter
instance of the SQL server.

If I have ACT! on my system and there
already is an ACT7 instance of SQL server, do I need to download and
install the Exporter instance?
If you have the sa or ACTREADER password from Sage, then you do not
need to download the Exporter instance. These passwords are
not supplied with ACT! and will need to be purchased from Sage.
There is no additional charge for the Exporter instance, so in most
cases it is the most economical way to export using SQL.
