Exporter for ACT! 7-11

Exporter for ACT! 7-11 exports ALL**  ACT! data  from the  Contact, Groups Company, Notes, History, Activity, Sales, Group Membership  into several standard formats which can be used for import into a wide variety of applications.   It supports ACT! versions 7-11 which are also called ACT! by Sage 2005-2009.

• Easy to Use interface.  Answer four questions -- What type of output do you want?; How to access the ACT! database?; Where is the ACT! database? ; Where will the exported data be saved?
• Important Data Exported.  Notes and history items are exported and easily linked with their contact records.
• Custom ACT! field names are preserved.  ACT! allows the user to rename user fields and create new fields.  These field names are exported so they can be used in the target application.
• Filters.  Allow the user to export portions of the database.
• Notes converted from .rtf to standard text.  ACT! stores notes in .rtf format.  While this allows fancy formatting within ACT!  most other applications can not use this format.  Therefore, any note stored in rtf format is converted to standard text. 
• Selectable Export Servers.  The OLE DB, ACT! instance or local SQL server can be used to export data.
• Runs manually or automatically.  Exporter can be  run without operator intervention and can be run as a scheduled after hours task. (OLE DB server or ACT! Reader server only)

Export File Types

CSV/Excel   All tables are exported in windows standard comma delimited or TAB delimited format.  All files exported can be open with MS Excel.

ACCESS  All tables are exported into an Access database.  The relationships between the tables are setup.

dBase  All tables are exported in dBase IV format with a .dbf extension.  For tables containing memo fields, there will be a .dbt extension which contains the long data fields

FoxPro All tables are combined into a Visual FoxPro Database container.  The relationships between the tables are set up.  DBC files can be used with almost any window application through the ODBC drivers.  In the Download area of our web site, you can find information describing how to use this file type.

ACT! 6  Exporter will return the ACT! 2005-2009 database to ACT! 6.  The data returned depends on the Export Server used.  (See below.) 

Salesforce.com  A Comma delimited file is returned which can be easily imported into Salesforce.com using the Import Wizard.  In addition, a list of the ACT! fields which did not automatically map to Salesforce.com fields is complied to make the transition to Salesforce a simple three step process -- Export the ACT! data, Add the custom ACT! fields to Salesforce, Import the data.  ACT! notes and history records are included.  A field including a list of the ACT! groups can be used to easily build Salesforce views.

Activities and opportunities are also exported however importing these into Salesforce with the tools available requires multiple steps.  The use of the Informatica on Demand tool has been documented.  However, it has some known issues and we do not provide support for it.

Servers

OLE DB  This is the standard export server that is supplied with both ACT! Standard and Premium.  It does not allow export of Activities, Attachments or Group Membership.

ACT! SQL Instance  You can purchase a utility from Sage that will give you access to the ACT! instance of the SQL server.  This will allow complete access to all of the ACT! data.  This allows concurrent access to ACT! and the Exporter.

Local SQL Server  If you have another SQL server available, you can make a copy of your ACT! database and attach it to this server.  This will give you access to all of the ACT! data.  If you don't have a server, you can download an Exporter instance of SQL  This will install the correct version of SQL for your system.  If you use a SQL server, you do not need to have ACT! on your system.
